Candidate for Scientific Chinese in 2009: Zhao Dongyuan
was born in Shenyang, Liaoning in June 1963. He graduated from the Department of Chemistry of Jilin University in 1984. He received master and doctor degrees in 1987 and 1990. He is currently a professor and doctoral tutor of the Department of Chemistry of Fudan University, deputy director of the Advanced Materials Laboratory, and a specially appointed professor of the "Changjiang Scholar Award Program" by the Ministry of Education. Mainly engaged in the study of mesoporous material synthesis and structure, mechanism of physical chemistry and its catalysis. He was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2007.
Reasons for selection:
He often laughs at himself like this: "I am a hole-maker".
The fact is the same, he made a great contribution in the research of mesoporous molecular sieve synthesis. Created 17 new mesoporous molecular sieve structures (FDU series) named after Fudan University. These new mesoporous materials have been produced in kilograms, providing reagents for domestic and foreign research units, and using the new mesoporous materials for hydrocracking , HPLC support protein separation, used for immobilized enzymes and bio-glass bone filling materials, etc., have achieved good results, and played a role in promoting the application of mesoporous materials.
